The Role of ISIS in the Terrorist Attack on Moscow
The Attack on Moscow Concert Hall Is Not Unrelated to the Struggles Between Russia and ISIS. (INDEPENDENT Farsi)

After the attack on a concert hall in the outskirts of Moscow, which has resulted in the deaths of over 150 people and injuries to dozens, many of whom are in critical condition, ISIS Khorasan released a video on its official news agency, Amaq, showing members of the group carrying out the operation. ISIS proudly claimed responsibility for this attack in the video.
ISIS Khorasan has had a historical enmity with Russia since the days of the Soviet Union. Furthermore, Russia’s intervention to support the Syrian regime and target ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other extremist groups in Syrian territory is another factor exacerbating the hostility between these groups and Russia, especially as the conflict in Syria is far from over and puts pressure on extremist groups in various forms.
In the past, the bombing of a Russian plane that was en route from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to Moscow in 2015 was also attributed to ISIS Khorasan.

ISIS, in all its branches, has a revolutionary and deeply-rooted ideology in which Russia, led by Putin, is at the forefront of its objectives. However, this does not mean that other countries are immune from the threat of ISIS.
ISIS is a closed and regressive organization that bears a striking resemblance to the Hashashin sect, originally known as the “Assassins” group. Now the question arises whether Western intelligence networks are not using ISIS as a tool against Russia.
The answer to this question depends on the areas in which the West can exploit ISIS. Sometimes, converging interests may lead the West to turn a blind eye to the plans and activities pursued by ISIS to harm Russia and other adversaries. Although a spokesperson for the National Security Council of the United States announced that Washington had shared information with Russia about the terrorist attack in Moscow, in a ruthless world, many incidents occur beyond belief and imagination. Therefore, even Putin and the Kremlin elites do not want to believe that ISIS bears sole responsibility for this attack. For this reason, they have shifted the blame towards Ukraine.
We are not interested in these debates and controversies, but we should not immerse ourselves in conspiracy theories and overindulge in their promotion. Instead, we should contemplate why cultural and social anomalies and the inefficiency of certain prevailing concepts in our societies create mentalities that lead some individuals in the community to embrace the idea of reviving the caliphate, perpetual jihad, and Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Kufr. As a result, we must initiate societal reform from this standpoint!
