The Road To You
A Poem
The road to you was filled with potholes and uneven pavement as I navigated alone fantasizing about a smooth ride One without hassle or despair or angst Just open road wind in my hair and you by my side
The road to you had so many twists and turns that I became dizzy and lost inside of myself and could no longer find the way back Side roads just led me deeper into confusion and frustration
The road to you was littered with wrong turns Turns I took because I didn’t know you would be waiting Turns I took because I was impatient and wanted to reach my destination before I was ready to be destined
The road to you was hidden and the only way for me to unlock it was to pave the road to myself first But once I did and I learned how to drive again You showed up A hitchhiker on an open road wind in your hair Just waiting for me
