The Rise And Fall Of Leon The Bird

Leon is different than the other birds, he’s smarter than them and he knows it.

Leon and his friends were hanging out one day when they saw some squirrels running all around and up and down the trees in search of nuts. This seemed weird and comical at first but Leon noticed a pattern.

Later he offered his new idea of how to collect food to the other birds. They were all impressed and agreed this was a much better way to do things. Leon never mentioned he got the idea from the squirrels.

Sometime later Leon noticed a snake that hid so well neither their prey nor predators could see them. This gave him another idea. He then told the birds about a better way to hide from bigger birds.

Again the birds were amazed and again Leon made everyone think it was his idea.

At this point, Leon had developed quite a reputation for himself. People marveled at his brilliance and waited anxiously for his next great idea.

The day finally came, Leon got the birds together as he did before and told them about his greatest idea yet. Leon had begun to believe the other birds and thought he was a special bird who had all the answers and was the only hope for the birds’ survival. He had become so infatuated with himself he stopped learning from other animals and decided to allow his own brilliance to shine.

The idea Leon came up with was a new way to fly.

This had the crowd of birds mixed. Some of them loved the idea, the old way of flying was lame and outdated, they were ready for something cool and new.

The majority of the birds had a different reaction. The thought of changing the way they fly and adopting this new style didn’t make sense to them.

The way they’ve been flying is the most efficient way to fly. This new idea is harder and takes more work, but the fact that it’s new was enough to get people excited. They didn’t think it through, it looked cool when Leon did it so they wanted to do it too.

At this point the birds began to have differing opinions about Leon, some thought he was a genius others thought he was a ghoul. Over time Leon made more claims and came up with new ideas, but slowly people started to turn on him.

After he stopped stealing ideas from other animals Leon didn’t have much to offer, but so many birds loved and praised him, he began to think he was a God.

Eventually, most birds saw Leon for what he really is.

A smart bird who knows how to take other animals’ ideas and make them look and sound cool. Leon started out wanting to help the other birds, and he did, at first.

But his greed and pride got in the way and instead of helping the birds, his goal became to make himself the greatest bird of all time.

Leon faded off into the distance, he still pops his head out and squawks about something now and again, but any bird with a brain knows not to listen.
