LETS GET PAID! — Affiliate Products & Services

The Right Affiliate Products Can Earn You a Regular Online Income!

Do you want to know what kind of affiliate products are the best kind to passively promote?

If you want to try and get paid from promoting affiliate links in your stories, this can be an easy way to make passive online income, even if you don’t make a whole lot of it.

NOTE: Please notice the affiliate link disclaimer below

Then again, there are writers on Medium right now, who swear by how lucrative their affiliate marketing activities have been.

A big part of the equation comes down to how your affiliate products and links are presented.

This could be the difference between earning a few cents and earning a few bucks, all from the same affiliate product.

Let’s consider some facts…

What challenges do most Medium writers face?

All Medium writers eventually have some of the same challenges, no matter who we are, or how long we’ve been writing on the Medium platform.

Finding creative and effective ways to keep our readers interested and engaged is no easy task, especially with so many other great stories to compete with.

If you want to get and maintain an edge as a writer on Medium, you have to do what you can, to make sure your stories give readers what they really need, and not just what you want to write.

This principle is especially important when you’re writing about products you promote, and you include affiliate links in your stories.

As you probably know (since you’re here reading this story), Medium is totally cool with you including affiliate links in your stories, as long as you do it responsibly.

In case you’re not sure, that simply means disclosing the fact that you’re affiliated with and/or are benefiting in a monetary way from the links.

Don’t quote me on that particular explanation, but you get the gist. In fact, you can check out any of these stories for more on the protocol for affiliate links.

They also provide their own thoughts about some of the same affiliate programs and products that I plan to talk more about later on, right here on Lets Get Paid!

But first:

Let’s consider the kinds of items that have the potential to earn you money, when you select affiliate products to promote.

Offer readers what they need and not what you hope they want

An important concept to keep in mind when presenting affiliate products to your readers, is this:

It’s easier to know what people need, than to guess what they might want.

That’s my personal philosophy, although I’m sure someone else said it first and much better.

Regardless, the fact still remains; trying to figure out what people need is relatively easy, because as human beings, we have a lot of the same basic needs.

But when it comes to the things that people want; the possibilities are endless…

Here are some helpful tips for choosing the types of affiliate products that may actually pay you more.

  • Beauty and health related products that address a specific need.
  • Household items and related products that are commonly purchased on a periodic basis.
  • Pet items and supplies that are commonly purchased on a periodic basis.

Compare the above list to the following one:

  • Jewelry for men, women and children
  • Artwork and knick knacks for the household
  • Sporting goods and outdoor equipment

The first list of items may not pay as much as the second, however, it might speak to more readers and secure more sales. These are the things people need.

The second list of items would probably yield a higher payout to you, because the commissions are higher on items that cost more. However, less people might make purchases, because of price, and also: These items are more like luxuries — they’re what people want.

And now:

Let’s talk about how to make the affiliate products you promote, appealing to your readers and potential customers.

How to make your affiliate products more appealing to read about

Every story that you want to reach as many readers as possible, has to start with what the writer conveys in the titles or posted headlines.

This is true, whether you’re promoting affiliate products in a Medium story, or you’re simply inserting affiliate links in a social media post.

Right now, think about the stories you write on Medium, and hope to earn extra money from with affiliate links.

Even if the title and subtitle offer to provide some type of benefit or advantage, it’s only a valuable story if you actually state the benefits, advantages, or practical tips they can really use.

You don’t have to necessarily mention the brand name of the product in a title, but it makes a lot of sense to identify what product is the subject of the story, and also indicate why it matters to the reader.

When you learn to effectively apply the principles of giving readers what they need, you’ll enjoy visiting the pages of available affiliate products and choosing items you suspect will sell.

One fantastic way to make affiliate products appealing to readers, is to write a story that provides some context about the item.

In other words, don’t just shove a bunch of affiliate links down their throat, and expect them to start clicking.

If you’re writing about a product you promote as an affiliate, try to share something of interest, besides a dry list of details, especially if you’re providing some type of number specs.

Ugh! Boring…….

For an example of a good way to present a story that contains affiliate links you want to promote, read my story:

Try these Simple Solutions to Help Stop Biting Your Nails

This little story was recently created from details extracted from related stories that I previously published on the subject.

You’ll notice from the title that the topic of the story is related to the affiliate links I included; which makes the promotional links relevant, rather than intrusive.

The same is true about this story I previously published about a blender. Towards the end of the story, I included an affiliate link and effortlessly disclosed the information about it.

As you can see, the title teases the idea of creating delicious drinks at home and saving money. That sounds much better than an outright sales pitch to purchase a blender.

After reading the story, having a link and access to the product is more of a convenience for the reader, than a nuisance.

The last thing you want to do is irritate your reader.
