The Rich Don’t Follow Step-By-Step Logic
For money-related goals
Everybody has a problem. Your favorite celebrity has a problem. The billionaires in your country have problems. The average income earner has a problem. The homeless person has a problem. But here is how rich people are different…
Aspirations
It is a blessing to have something to aspire to. For example, if you have never made more than $100k in a year and you aspire to make a million in a year, that is a blessing.
You have a worthy goal or aspiration that gets you excited. One of the major problems of the super-rich is that they find it hard to find things like that. When you can afford anything, lack of aspiration drives you crazy. It can make you start craving insane things.
This is why you find these supposedly retired billionaires working hard on things like climate change, ocean exploration, space exploration, etc. They need aspiration. Without aspiration, life gets dark very quickly.
But everyday people don’t need to go that far to find aspiration. The desire to enjoy a better quality of life gives them all the aspirations they need. But one little thing is a game changer.
The Game Changer
Most people are wired to think step-by-step. Meaning that, if they want to get to a million from 100k, they first think of how to get to 200k. And that is limited thinking.
Most people start thinking of skills. Skills upgrade is good and great. And you will go through that in your life as you grow. But just a skill upgrade will double or triple your income at best.
The rich don’t follow the step-by-step logic. Instead, they compress time. And anyone can. But most people have trained themselves in the opposite direction.
If you want a quantum leap, if you want a game changer…
Think of how to achieve your 10-year goal in 6 months. This is the game changer
Now, will you achieve it in 6 months? Probably not. But it will likely make you achieve it in 2 years. I’ll say why.
When you make a goal to go from less than 100k to a million within 6 months, getting the money is the easy part. You have been used to being the kind of person that makes the kind of money you make.
The hardest part is becoming the kind of person that makes a million. And this doesn’t mean academic or business qualifications.
This means waking up like someone who makes a million. Dressing like someone who makes a million. Showing up like someone who makes a million. And this is where it gets tricky.
From where you stand, your best guess about how millionaires dress for different events will probably be wrong. Your guess about how you would dress up if you make a million in a year would probably be wrong too.
This is because you have not embodied being a millionaire. You have to feel like it today.
The Future Doesn’t Exist
One of the gross misconceptions I had growing up was the idea of becoming something in the future. Now, I know better. I have to become it today.
What you desire is not in the future. It is in the present. If you can’t find it in the present, it is probably not anywhere in the future.
The future doesn’t exist. The only thing that exists is the present. If you cannot be who you have to be today (that has what you want to have), then the idea that you can have what you want tomorrow is laughable.
Be the person of your dreams today.
