The Relief of Cracking at the Chiropractor

It Works

I love going to the chiropractor. I haven’t been for many years, but you never forget. First of all, you feel better physically. We tend to mold into whatever tasks we do. The most common for writers is the hunched back, the sore upper back, and the tense muscles at the shoulders and the neck.

Here’s an experiment you can do on yourself. Stand in front of a mirror, either naked or with a minimum of clothing. See if you can see that one shoulder is higher than the other. Another one is to lift your arms together in front of you with your index fingers touching. Take a peek and see if they are even. My right arm is longer by an inch than my left. This is just an indication that you might need a chiropractic adjustment.

Chiropractors are all different. I love the ones who are also energy workers. They can chase healing energy through your body. Somebody who knows Reiki is a good one to go to. They don’t always advertise those abilities, but believe me, those are the ones you want to go to.

Initially, I believed I would only need to go once and be done with it. Nope. Whatever is hurting you takes years to develop, and it will take a bunch of sessions with the chiropractor to give you relief — good relief.

It’s worth it.

Now, two other things happen with chiropractic adjustments that many people don’t talk about. Sometimes, the quick release and adjustment trigger emotional healing. I’ve had that happen to me a couple of times. The first time it happened to me, I was in tears. It was just one huge whallopalooza of an emotional release. My chiropractor handed me a tissue and stood back. She explained that it happens sometimes.

I’ve had something like that happen while writing and during a session with a psychotherapist. My take on it is that we bury the hurtful stuff just to move forward. You might say to yourself, “Okay, put on your big girl pants and move on.” I tend to do that. Maybe you do, too. Who knew that a simple chiropractic adjustment could do the same thing?

The other thing that can sometimes happen is that the adjustment might also be orgasmic. I’m not kidding. It’s happened to me. Nobody seems to talk about it much on the internet. Maybe it is uncommon. All I know is it happened to me.

Now, all the cracking you hear during a chiropractic adjustment is not your bones cracking. It’s nitrogen gas escaping from between the joints. That’s all. No bones are broken here.

An unexpected, good result of my trips to the chiropractor was that I began to feel better about exercising. I was going to a local gym at the time, and I also worked in the neighborhood and walked to work. A number of months went by, and I realized I was stronger, could walk longer distances, and my thighs were firming up.

Chiropractic visits are expensive — at least, I thought they were. I think at the time, it was about $75 a visit for me. I had a job to pay for them, but since then, I lost that job and now earn pennies on Medium, which pays for my annual membership and not much more. I might also have gotten a deal because I committed to a specific number of visits. I remember the visits were close together in the beginning. After I was doing better then, the visits were farther apart.

But, if you are flush and can afford a chiropractic adjustment or two, I’d recommend it. I’ve listed a few of the YouTube Channels I follow at the end of this article. I like watching Dr. Doug Willen best of all. He is both a human chiropractor and an animal chiropractor. He’s even made a course where you can learn to massage your dog. I’m waiting for him to do a course about cats. That’s the one I’d be interested in taking.

Thanks for reading.
