In the night of the day of his death, I wrote this of him who, for nearly nine years, had been my lover, partner, and best friend, my accomplice in mischief — Loy.

You are the reflection of my soul.

No more than could my shadow Can you be torn from me, Though time and distance interpose, though Death’s persistence Deliver you to Heaven’s fold.

You are the reflection of my soul.
