I started writing this story in 2011 on the island of Reunion. I had just finished reading Fear and Loathing by Hunter S. Thompson and was inspired to write my own story.

I started writing this without a goal. It was meant to be about a young man named Jack on a journey of self-discovery. The more I wrote, the more I found myself merging with Jack and using my own life experience to shape his adventures.

While the events in this story are based on reality, they are experienced through the lens of madness.

All names have been changed, and certain characters that are based on real people have been manipulated to fit into Jack's world.

This is part one of the book and is a much-shortened version.

One thing that surprised me about my first writing journey was how much I learned about myself and my past. It was organic and eye-opening.

I have used this story as a type of trauma journal where I can put it all on poor Jack's shoulders and let him deal with it.
