LIFE

The Real Truth Drills Deep

It hurts I tell you

The unfiltered truth hurts a lot. It goes into the deep storages of your soul and digs up emotions that you had buried for years. Emotions that you spent years concealing with steel, concrete, more concrete, and re-enforcing material just so you can act a normal life. It is a knife that pierces into your brain, heart, and mind but is it good though?

It sucks but it is good for you

You see the truth is something that sets us free. It breaks many chains that burden our minds by showing us a different path that we never knew existed. It challenges the very way we think, the very core of our character, and pushes us to see there are problems and there are also ways to deal with the problem.

Furthermore, without the truth, our world would be devoid of reality. This would have an impact on every aspect of our lives from physical, social, mental health, etc. because the things we would do, accept and give would be against our very existence.

Truth does not care

The thing about the truth is it doesn’t respect our emotions. It doesn’t bow down to our feelings irrespective of our background, skin color, class, beliefs, or customs. It comes in cold, leaves hot and nothing can stand in its way.

I’m sure you’ve had someone tell you the truth about something for eg oxygen is not combustible by itself but more of an aid that allows combustion to occur. It challenges our belief system and our very thought process which can disrespect our self/ego if we don’t know how to process it.

Furthermore, some people get into fights and arguments every day because they can’t process the truth. One reason for this is because our ego and self-pride give us comfort but most times the truth does not. This can create warfare that burns down the beautiful cities we have built in our minds which pushes many people to just ignore it or outright fight against it.

While fighting against it will preserve us for the time being, it will also secure our fate of being in worse situations in the future. The truth is something that is both powerful and scary for us but we have to process it and accept it for our own good.

The message can be told in a caring way

While there are many persons out there that are envious, negative, toxic and purposely tell you stuff to hurt your feelings which puts a mental roadblock in your life, there are some who see how we act and tell us the truth in good faith.

Also, we might be quick to mistake these two groups of people but only one group has good intentions for you. This can be easily figured out by asking them “What is their intention?” and “Why do you tell me this?” A good-intentioned person will give you a good reason why they tell you this but a bad one won’t.

It is always best, to tell the truth in a caring and well-intentioned way but I always say “If a homeless person told you that a truck was coming to hit you, would you ignore the warning because it is coming from a homeless individual or would you take it and save your life?” Therefore, the truth is something we all need because it is the most powerful ax that will set us free.
