The Quiet Hour

A Free Verse Poem

Weary and spent, my legs can take me no further. I’ve been off-path for some time and all I see is barrenness. I find myself at a loss.

Not even the night skies are of any help. Eyes inward, I search the quiet of my heart, to find the reflection of the stars in my soul.

In that moment of quiet contemplation, a kindly breeze carries a message, a still, small voice gently whispering, “Return to Me.”

I shed that skin years ago. Clothed in sackcloth, I am destined to wander the wilderness, my compass no longer pointing toward redemption.

Reach for the lights”, the voice utters softly. How can I find these beacons, when they remain obscured by my humanity?

Look beyond this world, beyond the gray haze of the billowing clouds, for the stars still shine on these stormy nights.”

As always, a huge THANK YOU for taking the time to read my poem. Without you, my voice would be a whisper floating in the air.
