This is my comparison and analysis of the effect of growing followers by trying to use two methods as a novice
The first one, which the most people on Medium also recommend, invites several people to follow me
In the beginning, I did the same. After I had written two articles, I started to read from the articles recommended to me by the homepage system. And then went to the comment area to invite 5 people to follow me every day, some people were willing, some people refused, this is a normal phenomenon.
Here is my performance data for doing this:
I started publishing the first article on June 15, and there was no traffic within a few days after it was published.
After knowing that I started inviting others to follow on June 18. 7 views brought 4 followers is a big improvement.
This is already a great encouragement for a new author. Over the next two days, I gained several followers based on this practice
However, I found that there is a big hidden problem here. In the picture above, my article exposure is 7, and my followers are 4, but only 1 read.
Has anyone found the problem? That is, only one of these few followers read my article!

We all know why we choose to write on Medium. And we more or less want to use this platform to make money for our articles, especially those who do it as a side business.
The premise that the article gets paid is that someone reads my article. So why are these followers not reading my articles?
I have to fix this, otherwise at this pace, it’s useless even if I have a few thousand followers, they may not read my articles and I won’t be rewarded.
If that’s the case, then I have to re-cultivate an audience that will read my articles. So why not start cultivating now? So I went through the profiles of these followers one by one and finally found the problem.
Through their articles, I realized that their focus is not the same as mine. They focus on personal growth and writing, and I focus on health and life. That’s why they are not interested in my articles!
Of course, it’s not that this method is bad or wrong. I will summarize some guidelines at the end of the article.

How to find it?
First of all, when we publish an article, we need to attach 5 tags. Next, we can use these tags to search or use the central topic of our article to search. The articles I searched are all on topics like my articles. click in, go to the comment area, and invite them to follow me or follow those who commented on the articles.
Because you follow them, they may check your profile and read your articles, so some people who are interested in you will follow you

Followers have grown, and most, of the reading, has grown to 30, the exposure is 50, and the conversion rate is 30%!
Breakthrough growth, while trivial for established writers, is workable for novices. By the way, applauding in the comment section can get similar results, but not as good as following those commenters
