The Power of Trust: Choices and Success

The Power of Trust: Choices and Success

Success is not a straight path; it’s a journey with a lot of twists, turns, and challenges.

Looking back, I see that the biggest change I’ve made in my life (and career) that has made success possible has been trust.

It took me some time to learn and understand trust, but once I got there (here), everything started to fall into place.

Trust yourself

My journey towards trust started within. Trusting myself is the foundation that has allowed me to trust more broadly.

For the longest time, I didn’t know if my past was going to hold me back from getting licensure.

I took a huge gamble going to graduate school, without really knowing FOR SURE if it would all work out. But I chose to step forward anyway. I guess I figured that even if it didn’t work — somehow it would still work. I trusted that I could adapt and pivot. I trusted that having a degree would help in the end, even if it wouldn’t lead to the clear, logical, linear outcome I had on the horizon.

Early in my career, I also found myself in situations that caused me to doubt myself, my skills, my talents, and my instincts. Luckily, I was able to maneuver out of those before the ick took root too deeply.

Self-doubt and shame held me back from taking risks, making decisions, and taking on challenges. I settled a lot, and I didn’t advocate for my worth (because I wasn’t connected to it). Existing at that vibration is exhausting.

As I started to trust myself, the more confident I became, the more opportunities started to come my way. The upward spiral is magnetic.

Trusting yourself means building a relationship with yourself, listening and believing in your intuition, trusting your gifts, and having faith in yourself every step of the way.

Trust others

The next challenge was to trust others. Trusting others can be challenging, especially when you’ve experienced betrayal, disappointment, and bad experiences. It’s natural to have trust issues, but it’s important to recognize when it’s holding you back.

Let people in. Let people support you. Let your guard down; it’s okay.

Trusting others means building relationships based on mutual respect, understanding, and empathy. By trusting others, I’ve gained support, guidance, and opportunities that I wouldn’t have found on my own.

Trust the Process

Success is not an overnight journey. It takes time, patience, and a positive mindset. Trusting the process means having faith in the journey, even when the results are not immediate, visible, or clear.

I still get frustrated, but I realize now that I’m much happier when I focus on the journey, not just the destination. Trusting the process means accepting setbacks and challenges as lessons and opportunities for growth.

Trust the Universe

Trusting the universe/ God means having faith that everything happens for a reason. It means letting go of control. It means embracing uncertainty and learning to dance with it in a new way. Fear still shows up, but it’s different when I’m really grounded in trust.

The universe has always guided me towards opportunities and experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. It’s important to have faith and to believe that everything will work itself out, even when the outcomes are unclear. Trusting the universe has given me a sense of peace, allowing me to focus on the present moment and not get too caught up in my head.

Trust is a Choice

I choose trust. Trust is my assignment. I am ready to trust.

When I think I’ve surrendered, I surrender some more. Trust is a practice.

Not fully trusting is the reason I’ve often felt blocked.

I choose trust (as a concept, as a state of being).

I choose to trust (as a verb, an action, a choice, a behavior).

I choose trust (as energy in my body).

I choose trust as a frequency I tune into).

I choose trust as a path to travel down.

I choose trust (to let go of the outcomes).

I choose to trust that I am being held and guided and directed.

I choose to trust that all has been arranged for me.

I choose trust as depth and certainty.

I choose trust as a direction I can chart my course by.

I choose to show up for myself in aligned action.

I choose to trust because it feels good.

I choose trust because it feels better than fear and anxiety.

I choose to be happy.

I choose what to focus on and where to spend my energy.

I choose trust because it fills me up.

I choose expansion, hope, joy, and conviction.

I choose clarity — maybe not clarity of outcome, but clarity of choice. Clarity that if I lean into trust, if I practice, if I deepen my trust of trust — clarity that I will feel positive and supported and nourished, and nurtured.

I choose trust because it makes me feel connected and seen.

I choose to trust because the alternative is exhausting.

I choose to trust because I am growing. So even when things crumble, I can choose growth and faith and see things as opportunities rather than setbacks.

I can trust that things are working out, even if I don’t see tangible results.

I choose to believe. I choose to trust. I choose to step forward.

Choosing trust doesn’t mean I don’t get scared. It just means I choose. I get scared, freaked out, or anxious, or worried, or whatever. I catch it. I decide to choose again. I release. I let love in, trust, and grace.

Sometimes I choose 40 times in 60 seconds, that’s okay.

I continue to stretch myself. I continue to line up vibrationally with what I want to create. I continue to choose.

Reflecting on my journey, I realize that trust has been the biggest change I’ve made toward success. Trusting myself, trusting others, trusting the process, and trusting the universe have taken me on an incredible journey.

Trust as a choice has filled my life with opportunities, growth, and most importantly, fulfillment.

It’s easy to get caught up in the destination, we all do. But trust is a daily reminder for me, that it’s the journey that truly matters. Trust has allowed me to focus on the present, appreciate the people in my life, and embrace the obstacles and triumphs that come my way — that’s the practice part.

Trust has given me the confidence to reach for the stars and make my dreams a reality. I encourage you to trust your journey, trust the people in your life, and trust in yourself. And — if it fits — trust in something (someone) bigger than yourself. You may be surprised.
