I used to be a maximalist, a person who wanted more of everything. More clothes, more gadgets, more books, more hobbies, more activities, more friends, more money. I thought that having more would make me happier, more successful, and more fulfilled.

But I was wrong. Having more only made me more stressed, more overwhelmed, and more dissatisfied. I realized that I was spending too much time, energy, and money on things that I didn’t need, use, or enjoy. I realized that I was cluttering my home, my mind, and my life with excess and distractions. I realized that I was missing out on the things that truly mattered to me, such as my health, my family, my passions, and my purpose.

That’s when I decided to become a minimalist and focuses on what matters most. I decided to simplify my life, and get rid of the things that didn’t add value, meaning, or joy to it. I decided to embrace the philosophy of “less is more”, and discover the benefits of living with less.

Here are some of the ways that minimalism brought me freedom and joy:

  • Minimalism freed me from clutter: Clutter is not only a physical problem, but also a mental and emotional one. It can make you feel anxious, frustrated, and overwhelmed, and can affect your focus, productivity, and creativity. By getting rid of the things that I didn’t need, use, or enjoy, I freed myself from clutter, and created more space in my home, my mind, and my life. I felt more calm, relaxed, and peaceful, and I was able to focus on the things that mattered to me.
  • Minimalism freed me from stress: Stress is one of the biggest enemies of happiness, well-being, and success. It can affect your mood, health, and performance, and can lead to various problems, such as headaches, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. By getting rid of the things that caused me stress, such as unnecessary obligations, commitments, and expectations, I freed myself from stress, and created more time in my life. I felt more in control, confident, and optimistic, and I was able to pursue my goals, dreams, and passions.
  • Minimalism freed me from expenses: Expenses are one of the biggest sources of worry, pressure, and debt. It can affect your financial situation, your lifestyle, and your future, and can limit your choices, opportunities, and freedom. By getting rid of the things that cost me money, such as excessive consumption, impulse buying, and wasteful spending, I freed myself from expenses, and created more money in my life. I felt more secure, comfortable, and generous, and I was able to save, invest, and donate more.
  • Minimalism brought me joy: Joy is one of the biggest indicators of happiness, well-being, and success. Joy can affect your attitude, energy, and motivation, and can enhance your relationships, experiences, and achievements. By getting rid of the things that didn’t bring me joy, such as negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, I brought more joy into my life, and created more happiness in my life. I felt more grateful, satisfied, and fulfilled, and I was able to appreciate, savor, and share more.

I discovered the benefits of living with less, and I never looked back.
