30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE
The Power of Gratitude
Prose poem
Gratitude might not fix the headaches or the back pains, but living a life of gratitude fills one’s head and heart with beautiful thoughts, pushing complaints aside.
It’s not that life suddenly switches over to the bright side and the mind starts to think positively when one begins to practice gratitude, even when chaos reigns. The chaos, the despair, the anguish — they still exist in their measure, but we learn to acknowledge them as they are without dwelling on them too much, without surrendering control over our lives. Our minds learn to focus on blessings, and with gratitude, the impact of despair becomes more bearable.
Gratitude is not about ignoring our pain. It’s about recognizing the pain and the moments of happiness at the same time. Gratitude is about embracing life as it is, making room for everything and not losing the ability to smile because pain is also a part of life.
Gratitude is not about smiling through the pain. It’s about welcoming happiness when it comes knocking and holding onto it despite the presence of pain.
