The Power of Dreamers

Never underestimate the power of Dreamers. They have a way of shaping the world to their will. Undeterred by circumstance or seeming impossibility, they carry on like an irresistible force of nature.

Dreamers are a rising tide, lifting all of those around them. As many of us become trapped in the repeating and dreary loops of everyday life, Dreamers show us how to aspire. They inspire us to yearn for something more, something outside ourselves, and they do so with game-changing enthusiasm. Never ones to be imprisoned by the status quo, they create new fields and new realms for us in which to play.

But not all utilize their talents equally. Many a Dreamer has come and gone, their dreams left unfulfilled, bound and hidden forever from the world. The cost of their failed endeavors is high, and humanity suffers from the loss. Once too often have we let great dreams for the collective fall to the dispiriting actions of unkindness, leaving us to be led by rules of ineptitude, corruption and inequality. The mistakes of a Dreamer can be small, but the implications enormous.

Afterward, many of us do nothing more than sit in anticipation of the next Dreamer, hoping that their message is the one we need, the one for which we have waited, and the one which will lift us from our depths.

Dreamers are specialists in acquiring and shaping information. Success for the Dreamer demands an appropriate amount of time spent gathering information from a highway with numerous on-ramps and exits. Navigation on this highway can be treacherous. If the dreamer gets off too soon, they end up with Daniel Kahneman’s short cut biases, allowing mistaken and sometimes willful assumptions to reign because of the eagerness to act.

But beware, for this same highway can tempt them to stay. At its end waits Laplace’s demon, ready to offer them all the knowledge and information they will ever need to keep every bad decision at bay. No more guesswork. No more indecision. Only the best choices followed by the best outcomes.

The demon whispers in the Dreamer’s ear. “Just read one more book, and you’ll finally be able to make all your dreams come true. Wait, just one more how-to article, just learn from one more person, one more example, just a little more time, one more experiment, one more test, one more experience. . . hahahahaha!”

And like that, the Dreamer has fallen victim to the illusion of perfect knowledge and refrains from taking action. The demon perpetuates the desire for greater knowledge, while simultaneously holding humanity in stasis.

This is why it is best for Dreamers to surround themselves with those who can help bring balance to the dream. Dreamers are the gateway to our next plane of existence. They are our chance for ascension. And it is up to the rest of us who engage more as sentries of the the old and new establishments, as reachers to the community, and as makers and builders, to bring balance to the dreams of the Dreamer.

Have you identified the Dreamer in your circle? They are there, at your job, in your industry, in your community, and perhaps even in your family. Please, support your local Dreamer. Guide them, nourish them, and protect them.
