The Power Of Consistent Schedule

And the important role of Saturdays in my weekly schedule

Building a business means commitment.

Building a business means having the discipline to set aside the time of your week to devote to building the vision I have. Although, I would like to spend the day just watching movies or doing some activities outdoors with friends.

My goals right now are to build my life-coaching business and write 4–5 articles per week on Medium. And to do that while working full-time and being a full-time Psychology student.

It means I can't afford to have a messy schedule. I need to have a consistent schedule and discipline to carry it out.

The Power Of Consistent Schedule

I believe that my best productivity during the week is achieved by having a consistent schedule.

The importance of schedule is something I learned when selling educational books door-to-door in the US and Canada. We worked 6 days per week, 12 h per day. We worked on straight commission.

Everything was dependent on how hard we worked, and consistency of schedule always proved to give 90% better results than a lack of consistent working schedule.

Right now, when I am working on my business and learning to be a good writer, while also working full-time from my laptop at home and being a full-time Psychology student, a well-planned and rigid schedule is crucial. (I am thankful that I can do everything from home, also University studies. At least some positives in the hectic pandemic season.)

My schedule right now is that Monday through Friday I wake up at 6 am, do my morning routines (positive affirmations, prayer, some gymnastics or running, reading), and start writing or reading other articles for 2–3 hours in the morning.

Afterward, I work on my administration-type of jobs from about noon until around 8 pm. Then I take time to either read, organize myself or talk with friends.

Precious Saturdays

On Saturdays, I write articles and work on ideas for launching my coaching programs. It is recently when I started to write on Medium and decided to build my own coaching business. I still need to prepare my coaching program and set up an offer.

Saturdays have become the days when I fully devote myself to working on my business and writing longer articles.

I count Saturdays as precious because it is a day that I can fully take off from working the paid jobs I have. And I can have 100% concentration on working on carrying out my plan for business.

I don't like to schedule other activities on Saturdays before I have carried out my to-do list. Otherwise, it feels like I would be putting off my goals and dreams for another week.

I believe that to build a business I need to treat it like a business not as a side-hustle.

Side-hustle is something that I do whenever I have time. More like a hobby. Which is great as well.

Important To Also Take Time Off

At the same, it is also important to schedule every week a time off. Time for myself that I don’t sacrifice no matter what. For me those are Sundays.

I need time off to re-set my focus, let go of the worries and fears that have been accumulated throughout the week. And to fill me with inspiration and new ideas for a strong start to the next week.

I believe there is a time to work hard to build a vision and business. And then there will also come a time to reap the rewards and enjoy full-time off.

Meanwhile, I also need a moment on a regular basis when I take time to re-charge myself and make sure I am moving in the right direction.
