The Police Know They Have A Dangerous Job
Two Pennsylvania state troopers were killed
The police are trying to keep the public safe
Being a police officer is not an easy job. They are there to protect the public against danger. They realize each day that they go to work that they may be in harm’s way themselves.
Most of us have friends or family members who are or were members of some police force. We know that these are people who are serving the public in a way that is necessary but potentially life threatening.
Two Pennsylvania state troopers and one civilian were struck by a vehicle and killed. The three were hit by a vehicle driven by a woman who may have been driving under the influence.
Jordan Mendoza wrote an article for USA Today which was titled: ”2 Pennsylvania state troopers, civilian killed after being hit by suspected driver under the influence.”
The police were dispatched at around 12:45 a.m. with a report of a man walking on the freeway. They went to help and were attempting to get him off the road when a vehicle came speeding by attempting to pass the three men. They were all hit and died.
Witnesses were attempting to perform CPR on the men, but all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officers are sometimes required to make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty as these officers did.
The troopers were both organ donors who donated their organs to the Gift of Life Program. They are heroes who had been destined to have bright careers as officers of the law.
The police know that their job could be extremely dangerous on any given day when they go to work. They are willing to sacrifice to serve others.
It appears to be another case of an alcohol related incident which should not have happened. Drinking and driving is never a good idea. It can cause injury and death to innocent persons while ruining the life of the person driving under the influence.
