The Pier

Poetry in Lyrics

Photo by Ethan Richardson on Unsplash

Sitting out on a pier on a lake one night Looking at the stars up above shining bright

How I wish I could be back Back on that pier Ain’t no bright lights, skyscrapers, or anything Fake out here Innocent and free No ties binding me Wondering what my life is gonna be

Let me take you to that place back in time Where there were no troubles No worries crowding my mind

Now I sit in my own purple cloud of smoke I hope that I get out of here Before my spirits choke

Straining to hear the crickets at the edge of the lake Wondering what we could add to the sounds That they make

How I wish I could be back Back on that pier Ain’t no bright lights, skyscrapers, or anything Fake out here Innocent and free No ties binding me Wondering what my life is gonna be
