The Personal is Political
A Poem
We live in a world Where it is almost impossible
To see the harm To trace it back
In all that we do, wear, eat, consume We live in a world where this is hidden
It is no surprise most people Want to pretend
There is no harm There is no root
That this final product Be it porn or cheerios
Is safe, fine, just a choice The oppressions underneath
The loss of soul and morality The exploitation
Don’t connect Because so many would rather look away
Than truly change themselves, the world It’s easier to
Ignore and perpetuate Than it is to stand up, speak out, and build anew
There is no shelter, no excuse, no justification Worthy of allowing exploitation to exist in your name
Ignorance is participation in oppression.
