The Perfect Life
The Perfect Lie

Society sells us a bill of goods. It tells us that All. The. Humans except us have their collective shit together. That everyone, everywhere — has The Picture-Perfect Life. We are the only Humans with “Oh shit!” moments, with pain and chaos in our day-to-day.
As usual — society is just so full of crap.
But yet — we build our lives around this lie — this illusion — that Life can be perfect.
We all know Humans who are constantly comparing their life to those around them. They look at all that they don’t have and won’t achieve. They never once look at the blessings that grace their world. And they are completely, constantly miserable.
What many Humans fail to understand is Life will always be unpredictable simply because we are not in control. And we never have been. Control has been the bedtime story we tell ourselves so we can sleep at night. In truth, The Universe sends lessons, situations, plot twists,— and you will never see them coming.
The good news is this is The Human Condition and we, not a one of us, are ever alone in this situation.
No one has The Picture-Perfect Life.
Read that again.
All those Humans we compare ourselves to daily carry their own crosses. We may long for wealth and think millionaires have it good. Millionaires may wish to have the autonomy of the less affluent. We may feel alone and believe that any relationship is better than no relationship. Yet, we know many couples who hide their unhappiness behind a facade of harmony and long for the peace and freedom of being single.
We are programmed to clutch the bird in the hand. We live with attachments to All. The. Outcomes instead of the gratitude which leads to abundance. Scarcity is a forlorn place of constant unease and misery. Grasping, clinging, reacting — never at peace. And many of us roost there for the whole of our lives.
Let me be clear. Life is messy. Most of the time we walk right into shit storms we never saw coming. We allow our anxiety to create catastrophes that never come to pass. We misunderstand each other — All. The. Time. We live in chaos. The world is chaos. Life is chaos.
But there is good news, even in the tempest we refer to as Life.
I have survived 100% of the chaos that arrived at my doorstep. So have you. Even when you didn’t think you could or you even wanted to. Somehow, here you are — in your completely messy and chaotic existence.
Welcome to Life! All Of Life! The joy and the sorrow. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. For Life is a two-sided coin — one side never exists without its antithesis.
This is the truth of Life for All. The. Humans. Let go of the illusion, stop listening to the lie.
Namaste.
“When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” — On Joy and Sorrow by Kahlil Gibran
