As the pandemic pause continues
Humbling lessons taught by this pandemic

2020 started like any other ordinary year, the celebration, the expectations, the hope of new beginnings.
No one knew, lurking in the shadows of time, was a tiny, microscopic blob of doom.
At first, it felt distant, negligible, and surreal, but in just a few months, it took over the planet.
Tinier than a speck of dust, an odd-looking microbe, sent into a spiral, the entire globe.

The mightiest of humans, the greatest of nations, the rich, and the poor, all leveled to their knees by this contagion.
The world paused in fear and awe
Speculations arose, policies and treatments connoted, but the fury of nature couldn't care less for these options.
Stop and pause, stay still in your place. The ugly head of human egos was crushed by an invisible vision.
Relationships were tested, normal life halted, jobs, businesses, schools, and places of worship, all came to a pathetic standstill.
Generations of loved ones were rudely pulled apart when the world came to a socially distant halt. Human Race was shown its place by a minuscule bug.

The media was thick with confusing data and gossip, our intelligence was tested, and our sense of self, falsely arrested.
Mankind has abused and ignored nature for far too long. The desire for dominance, coupled with greed, has brought us all down to our knees.
Stay humble, stay kind, says nature to humankind. This pause is not permanent, but a necessary warning. Forget your ego and ill will to destroy. For the might of civilization can be crushed by a blight.
“This isn’t forever. It’s just for right now.” A phrase that brings no solace to our tired souls. While the pandemic war rages, variants continue to soar. Our weapons of war, called vaccines, can barely keep score.
2021 continues in a similar plight. As the virus remains strong and virulent. Step cautiously into the future, my fellow humans. Cherish all you have, and take each day in your stride. Let’s learn to respect this blue planet, the only home we have.
