The Path of Least Resistance

My first draft… My first song… My first love… My first attempt…
Being a purebred introvert, I am most comfortable in my habitat where I freely interact with characters in my fiction books: I have many intellectually stimulating debates with them and we experience fantastic conquests together. *sigh* While I love doing all this, deep down, I feel that I can do so much more in the real world as a grown woman.
While the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic has caused such a ruckus in all our lives (what an understatement), being 3.1 months in lockdown has made me appreciate things I have taken for granted.
[1] My Family While I am happiest at home, I observed how uneasy it was for the extrovert members of my family, who could not wait to go outdoors. Being cooped up at home with these extroverts, we learnt very quickly to respect each others’ differences and boundaries, and this is still an ongoing process. We are learning to understand each other better, how to treat each other with respect, and even started to understand each others’ love languages. All this happened through countless arguments, heated conversations, jokes, laughters, and especially during mealtimes. I don’t regret any of this, as it has brought my family closer.
[2] My Work As a freelance music teacher, I discovered recently (due to the lockdown) the joys of transitioning in-person classes to online. It turned out so well, I don’t know why I hadn’t tried it out sooner! I enjoy teaching my music students online so much so that I am seriously considering to continue doing so long-term. Even my students, and their parents, noticed improvements in their communication and problem-solving skills. We all started out cautiously testing the waters of online classes, only to be amazed and suprised how successful this is turning out to be. Not being there in-person, I discovered that my capable students are able to accomplish so much on their own, overcome hurdles with creativity, and beamed proudly as I encourage their musical explorations. #teachergoals 😆
[3] My Life and Dreams So here I am, testing out the waters of a writer’s world. Since my childhood, I dreamed of becoming a writer, artist, globetrotter, and do great things for the environment.
Will I be able to do all that and more? I can’t wait to find out. It’s been eons since I put pen to paper, do I still have it? I only have to continue to find out.
Stepping out of my comfort zone… Overcoming the jitterbugs to just BEGIN… And taking my first step away from the path of least resistence.
