The Paradox of Loneliness

Navigating Isolation and Spirituality in a World of Nothingness

“Loneliness is the fate of all people gifted with a special ability: they will sometimes deplore it, but they will always choose it as the lesser of two evils. “ — Arthur Schopenhauer

True loneliness is only when you feel absolutely isolated between heaven and earth.

Nothing should divert attention from these phenomena of absolute isolation, but an intuition of a terrible lucidity should reveal all the drama of man’s finitude in the face of the infinity and nothingness of this world.

Lonely walks — extremely fruitful and dangerous, at the same time, for the inner life — must be done in such a way that nothing that can disturb the vision of man’s isolation in the world does not enter the individual’s concerns.

In order to intensify the process of internalization and conversion towards your own being, solitary walks are fruitful only in the evening, when nothing from the usual seductions can steal your interest and when the revelations about the world arise from the deepest area of the spirit, from where detached from life, from the wound of life.

How much loneliness is needed to have spirit!

How many deaths in life and how many internal fires?

Loneliness denies so much of life, that the flowering of the spirit resulting from vital dislocations becomes almost unbearable.

Is it not characteristic that those who rise up against the spirit who have too much spirit, who know what deep disease has afflicted life for the spirit to be born?

The apology of spirit is made by healthy and fat people, who have no idea what spirit means, who have never felt the tortures of life and the painful antinomies at the base of existence.

Those who really feel it, either tolerate it with pride, or present it as a calamity. but no one is delighted, in the bottom of his being, by this catastrophic acquisition for the life that is the spirit.

And how to be delighted with this life without charm, without naivety and without spontaneity?

The presence of the spirit always indicates a minus of life, a lot of loneliness and long suffering.

Who speaks of salvation by the spirit?

It is absolutely not true that living in the immanent plane of life would have been an anxious life, from which man came out through the spirit.

On the contrary, it is much more true that an imbalance, an anxiety, but also a grandeur was gained through the spirit.

What do you want those who do not even know the dangers of life to know about the dangers of the spirit?

It is a sign of great unconsciousness to make the apology of the spirit, as it is a sign of great imbalance to make the apology of life.

Because for the normal person, life is obvious; only the sick person delights and praises her, so as not to collapse.

But the one who can no longer praise neither life nor spirit?

Do you believe that true loneliness ultimately leads to a deeper connection with the self and spirituality, or do you see it as a burden that must be endured?
