The Overworking Culture Is Killing Us
Let’s stop glamorizing the venom of overworking

Are you from Hogwarts where you lift up the wand and get things done?
Got any magical powers like Harry Potter?
If not, then why are you draining yourself?
Just to make your boss happy — thinking that you’ll get a raise.
I kid you not; you are making a fool out of yourself.
In today’s world, nobody says, “Oh, he gets the work done before time — he is so efficient.” Instead, your top management thinks, “Oh, he is sitting idle; give him more work.”
All in all, what do the employees get?
More work + less time to complete it + SAME SALARY.
So stop overworking yourself, and let me tell you why:
“Failing to prioritize your health and happiness is not a sustainable way of living.”
We are all guilty of this. It’s the culture that we live in, but it’s time for that to change. Let me explain in detail:
1. Losing sleep and getting moody
Overworking affects your personal and professional life badly. If you lose sleep, it’s going to affect your mental health.
You’re going to be grumpy, moody and it will also show in your work.
This could lead to loss — either personally or professionally.
Not having time for yourself or loved ones lead to stress and anxiety. (I think, I don’t need to remind you this time and again)
2. Diseases catch you off-guard
When you overwork yourself, you are prone to various diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, etc.
You might not see the effects now but trust me; it’s only a matter of time before it catches up with you.
3. Not living your life the way you want
You will not have the time or energy to do anything that makes you happy, whether traveling, going out with friends/family, etc.
Remember, nobody on their death bed says I wish I had worked more hours in my office!
So, let’s make a change and prioritize our health and happiness. It is not an impossible task, but it will require effort from all of us. Let’s start with small steps and see how it goes! :)”
4. You get burned out at the end of the day
When you overwork yourself, you will inevitably get burned out.
You’re not going to be productive at work and might even end up making mistakes.
You might have to take a leave from work, which will affect your employer as well.
All in all, it’s not worth overworking yourself and putting stress on your body.
When you live life the right way — You enjoy it! :)”
It’s important to take a break and rejuvenate yourself to start fresh the next day!
5. No time for 10% entrepreneurship
I’m sure you must have some goals…
Somewhere in your heart, you deeply desire to start a small business.
But because you’re overworked, you don’t have the time to do that.
In fact, according to a study, only about half of Americans who want to start their own business take the plunge due to lack of time.
That’s just sad!
We need to find ways to manage our time better so that we can start our own business or pursue that passion project.
Only then can we live a meaningful life that brings us joy and happiness! :)”
Overworking is not the solution to get ahead in your career…it’s actually going to hold you back.
6. No concept of boundaries
Hey, listen…
There’s one more task. Please do it before you leave.
What happens next? You end up sitting for long hours in your office.
Let me tell you a top-secret: People who set proper boundaries are happier at work because they spend their personal time with family.
But when you allow people to walk on you, you will only be stressed and unhappy.
People! Please protect your personal time.
You don’t have to work 24/seven!
We only live once…make the most of it. :)”
Remember, you are valuable and deserve your time off. If someone asks for more work on your day off — just say no!
It’s extremely important that we take care of ourselves before everything else.
Take a break, recharge and come back stronger than ever! :)”
