“Leave the gun," I yelled back to my sister, “trust me.”

Every step towards the portal was like fighting a hurricane. My clothes rippling like waves. Dust and thistle riding the wind. I slowly inserted half my leg.

“Are you sure?!” She shouted from afar as it distorted like a pencil in water.

I looked back. “Is this dilapidated dust-caked farm, all you dream of at night?” A fence post flew by. “Jade, mom and dad will be fine! But you were made for more. This is more!”

“Follow me.”

I broke her gaze, then disappeared into the anomaly.

Now it’s your turn! This story is purposefully open-ended as part of the “Follow The Leader Challenge”. In other words, you get to figure out what’s on the other side. Have fun 😉
