Summary

The article "The Oracle Speaks" metaphorically describes life as a series of vectors of force navigating through time, influenced by and interacting with each other.

Abstract

Published on August 22, 2012, "The Oracle Speaks" is a philosophical reflection that likens human existence to vectors as depicted in Richard Feynman's diagrams. It suggests that we are all forces moving through the continuum of time, each affecting the flow around us. The author poetically describes the shared journey of life, emphasizing that we meet and interact with others in the currents of time. These interactions occur in everyday settings, from casual conversations over tea to silent moments before sleep. The article concludes with a salute to all individuals as vectors, coexisting in the stream of existence.

Opinions

  • The author believes that life's trajectory can be understood through the metaphor of vectors, which is a concept rooted in physics.
  • There is a sense of unity and shared destiny among all individuals, as we are all moving in the same direction through time.
  • The article conveys a sense of wonder and appreciation for the everyday moments where we connect with others and figure out our shared path in life.
  • The metaphor suggests that our interactions and experiences shape the flow of time and our journey within it.
  • The author seems to find comfort and solidarity in the idea that everyone is navigating the 'sea of Time' together, as vectors of force.

What am I?

Concatenated Vectors of Force Through Time: Photo by Josh Hild on Unsplash

I am a vector of force through time.

Concatenated from

what Feynmann described in his diagrams.

The sea of Time parts around me.

Feels good to swim.

You, vectors too, are swimming with me

because we all exist: corporeal,

in this time and location.

We meet each other in the streamlets of Time

pushing around us.

We are all going in the same direction.

We figure things like that out

over morning tea,

among beer bashed benches in pubs worldwide,

silently as we wait for sleep to claim us.

I salute you,

vectors all,

among which I swim.
