The open letter
We are living in times whereby the truth is considered offensive that it should be watered down to a safe level before it is shared
The Pandemic has come and changed our lives as we know it, by now we should have learned that we have the same fears, regardless of your background, race, religion, or life status, diseases don't discriminate.
This is going to be a boring article if you're used to headlines like how to make a thousand bucks in a week or how to become a millionaire, I mean those articles that excite the brain. This is about what we don't like to talk about, what we have become, this is about the reality we live in. I see humans, where is humanity? History is full of lies and painful stories, yet we allow the same old brush to paint our future. It has been said pain is the great teacher, but we haven't learned much from painful history. Our countries are governed by tyrants and characteristic individuals, who serve an unknown mission, they speak a lie without blinking an eye, and they don't think twice before they ignore the truth, yet we still hope for a better future.
Billions of dollars are spent in research trying to find life on Mars, yet we have failed to value life on Earth. Greedy has become the norm, we are in the race of who can gather the most, wealthy is now in the form of numbers and numbers don't end, we keep chasing but never satisfied. Today hunger is still one of the top killers in the world, even from the rich countries people still die from hunger. Well, why to feed the hungry you can't benefit from that, rather only feed them when its election campaign time, then dump those people after you got their votes. It sounds so wrong because it is, hunger is used as a tool, those who are hungry are desperate and vulnerable.
Our Medical centers are equipped with advanced machines and well-trained Doctors, but it's only those who got deep pockets who can get access and afford the quality treatment, the poor are left to die. They say “Education is the key to the bright future,” yes “a good” education is the key to the bright future, but is it affordable? We have seen the students protesting in anger with a slogan like “Fees must fall” many students can't afford the University entry. Tertiary education is a farfetched dream for many as the price tag is too high to reach, Our governments can afford to build new war weapons, but they can't make education affordable for all. This is a reminder of how sick is the world we live in.
We live around each other
We may use the same currency, buy at the same store, drive on the same roads, and even live in the same neighborhood, but the chances are, we don't live together we just live around each other. Why is that we use any difference we can find, to justify ignorance. When it comes to Religion, language, or skin color we use it as a gate for the division instead of embracing diversity. When you're young the world is colorful, then you grow and start to learn and pay attention to everything in detail, the whole picture changes, and everything is not what it appears to be.
What if
What if we stop electing people into public offices based on their color of skin or tribal backgrounds, but we elect them based on their intelligence and being fit for the office. What if we stop punishing those who don't look like us, those who don't have the same beliefs as we do, what if we stop living around each other and start to live together. We are missing the purpose of life, we spent our lifetime ridding on hate, fighting illusion wars that we can't even logically explain the reason behind or how it's going to end.
These are great times to be alive we can share our pains, joy, achievements, failures, information, and opinions, just in the tips of our fingers. If there is something good about human nature let it prevail, we have no limitation in communication, distance is no longer a boundary. This is the time to bring back humanity, we are smart enough to travel into space, I don't see any obstacles which hinder our ways to touch the hearts.
What are you proudly living behind for the coming generations?
