GROWTH MINDSET
The Only Way To Improve Your Quality Of Life Is To Keep Growing
And 3 ways you can force growth on yourself
Do you currently feel stuck in your life? Like what you do on a daily basis isn’t bringing you anywhere closer to where you want to go next? It’s like your weekdays are an exact replica of one another.
And your weekends? You’re just spending it sleeping or consuming media that again, doesn’t bring you closer to where you want to be.
If this is you, if this is how you feel, then you’re currently stuck in the stagnant stage of your life — a stage where you feel like you’re not progressing because everything just feels the same.
But the good news is, you don’t have to stay stuck in this stage. You can get out of it and go further than you’d ever imagine yourself going.
And the only way you can do this is by growing — mentally and emotionally.
You may say that it’s hard to do anything differently because life is just how it is right now. You may have a full-time job that requires you to do the same thing day in and day out. You may have family obligations that again, requires you to follow a certain routine every single day.
So, how do you change or get out of this routine?
You do so by forcing it, by forcing yourself out of this current ‘comfort’ zone that you find yourself in.
And I’ll share with you 3 tips on how you can do so.

1. Change first what you have control over
While you may feel like your current routine is something you’re stuck with due to circumstances, you actually have more control over it than you think you do.
For example, your job. If you feel like you’re stuck doing the same thing every single day and you don’t see yourself growing or progressing anymore, why don’t you seek a change?
Ask for a transfer to a different unit or department so that you can experience doing something different. Or if you feel like your growth is stunted within the company, try looking for a new job then.
While it may seem scary looking for a new job, especially if you’ve been doing your current one for a long time now, it will actually push you to do things differently.
You’ll find yourself thinking about how to improve yourself, how to be better.
You may not get a new job straight away, but the act itself of applying for other jobs will jolt something in you to change things up a bit.
While it not be easy, you should learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable because most time, growth is uncomfortable and sometimes, it can even be painful.
And these are things that you have control over.
2. Don’t waste your time on things that don’t benefit you
I want you to imagine that you have $86,400 in your bank account right now (if you have more, good on you!) and this amount will replenish itself every single day — regardless of whether you spend it or not.
For example, you only spend $4,000 today and you have a balance of $82,400. The next day, that balance will just disappear and be replaced with a new amount of $86,400 again.
Now, if this is the case, what would you do?
You’d spend that money properly won’t you? You’ll use it all up because you know the next day, you’ll have more of it. You won’t waste a single cent of it.
You’ll buy things that will help you, that will elevate your standard of living, that will make you happy, etc., but you will definitely not waste it.
This is exactly how much time you have a day — 86,400 seconds.
Each day you are given exactly 86,400 seconds to spend and it just replenishes every single day. You won’t get more, you won’t get less.
You’ll spend at least a quarter of those seconds sleeping, some eating, and some traveling.
But what will you do with the rest of them?
Will you spend them on things that brings absolutely no benefit to you or will you spend them on things that will help you to improve as a person, to help you grow as a person, and to help you get to where you want to be?
You will never be able to get back the time that have already gone by, and time is priceless, it’s the most precious commodity that we have.
Don’t waste it, not a single second of it.
Figure out what makes you happy, what makes you a better person, what will help you grow — do more of those things and less (or none) of what doesn’t help you at all.
3. Realise that things don’t get easier, you just get better as you grow
Growth is scary because it means we need to do things that are out of what we’re used to, out of what is easy for us.
Growth means having to do things that are difficult, where chances of failure is always high, where the possibility of pain (be it physically, mentally, or emotionally) is always there.
But you know what, that is the only way you can grow.
Take lifting weights for example.
The more you workout, the more weights you lift, the lighter they feel.
When you start bench pressing for the very first time at 100lbs, it’s gonna feel heavy, very heavy. You’ll probably only be able to complete 2–3 sets of 6–7 reps each.
But as you do it consistently for a few weeks, you’ll noticed that you can now do 4–5 sets of 8–10 reps each.
Did the weights get lighter? No, it didn’t.
It’s still the same 100lbs as the first time you did it. But what happened is that your muscles grew, you became stronger, and the load felt lighter.
It also means that you are then ready to go heavier, maybe to 150lbs or more. And it’s the same cycle all over again.
But the important thing here to remember is that the weights didn’t get lighter, you just got stronger, and because of that, it felt easier.
It’s the same when facing challenges in life.
The more you face them head on, the better you’ll be at handling them.
It’s not that the challenges get easier, it’s just that you’re better equipped at dealing with them, you’re better at navigating them and finding better solutions faster.
That’s growth.
And when you realise that things don’t get easier, you just get better, you’ll understand why it’s so important for you to grow.
You’ll want to do more things that will help your growth, to take more risks, to do more things that scare you, that makes you feel uncomfortable, rather than stay idle at where you are now and stay stuck forever in situations that you’re not happy in.

If you are exactly where you want to be in life right now, I’m happy for you and I hope you get to continue to be where you want to be. But if you’re not, then the only way for you to change that, to improve your quality of life, is by growing.
It’s not going to be easy, I’ll be totally honest with you, but it will be worth it.
And if you’re unsure how to start, just do the following:
- Change first what you have control over
- Don’t waste time doing things that do not benefit you
- Realise that things don’t actually get easier, you just get better
The amazing thing about us human beings is our endless capacity to keep growing, to keep improving, to keep innovating, to keep progressing.
That’s one of the things that separates us from the animals.
Whether you believe it or not at the moment, you do have it within you to be so much more than who you are at the moment — especially if you feel like you’re not where you want to be.
You just need to push yourself a bit more, do things that will help you to grow, and watch as the quality of your life improve tremendously, maybe even beyond what you could have ever imagined it to be.
You got this.
Good luck!
