The Only Number I’m Concerned About on Medium
In a word of Stats, Data, and Analytics — this one number matters most
There is only one number I’m concerned about on Medium. Just one.
There is no number 2 until number one is done. And then number 2 becomes … number one.
There is only one article I’m working on right now. Some are in drafts, but I’m only working on one actively. It happens to be this one.
When you think about it, you’re only reading one piece at a time, and coincidentally, it also happens to be this one (we make a great team).
But this one story isn’t the number I’m focused on. There is a different one.
It is you. You are the one. There are many ones. There are different ones. But there is only one one. In my book, you are the number one—no reason to look side-to-side or even behind you.
Right now, I’m only talking with you. Number One!
I love you. Notice I didn’t say I love youze (plural of you?).
You. I hope the things I write and say resonate. With you.
This one (you) is the only number I’m currently focusing on. If I try to please everyone at once, the writing gets sloppy. And, maybe it already is sloppy.
But, if I start trying to please all y’all … we’d have a mess bigger than Texas!
So look, I’m thankful for you. I think we’re a great fit for each other. I promise to focus on you. Not any different number or numbers.
Just you and me, okay? Writer and reader. Sometimes, I am the reader and you are the writer, each time acting as one — one piece at a time.
No other numbers at the moment. Just one.
