The Ones Who Choose to Heal
A Poem about becoming, grief, unity, and hope.

In my experience, the ones who choose to heal are the ones who dare to speak.
The ones who choose to heal are the ones, the ones who are not rigid and tight, but rather bursting with unresolved desires.
The vulnerable ones. The ones with messy hair, lack of sleep, undone to-do lists.
The ones who choose to break then accept rebirth.
In my experience, the ones who choose to heal are the ones who shatter the ball of society’s expectations.
The ones who use the deconstruction as an opportunity to rebuild something true, something better, something lit.
Outwardly looking within, I now recognize the healers are within us all.
They are the ones who continue to heal, but they’re also the ones who have created a beacon seen from the shore.
Yes, the most courageous healers I know have weathered –and are still– weathering the storm, but are transcending their steep lessons from pain to guide others like them, like me,
home.
