New Writers, The One Strategy You Haven’t Thought of To Increase Reads
The strategy will boost your reads and earnings for your stories

One simple step could increase your earnings to your stories. You’ve worked hard to write those stories and they deserve more views, reads, and love.
I don’t know why it took me so long to figure this out.
But yesterday I figured “it” out after I posted a story and I noticed another writer had highlighted my story within minutes of publishing it.
The same thing happened the day before and the day before that day.
I imagined him doing the same with other writers, and that’s the moment when I knew I had to click that envelope on the writer’s home page.
Why click that envelope?
You know that envelope. It’s the one you maybe haven’t clicked because (like me) maybe you didn’t want your inbox to be filled up with too many emails.
Oh, what a fool I am. Maybe, you too : )
If we’re paid when other writers read our stories, it makes sense to build a relationship with other writers by reading their stories, so they’ll read yours.
More reads = more money, right?
Hence, you need to click on other writers’ envelopes on their home page and let your inbox fill up, so you can see when a writer has written a story and read, clap, and comment and, most likely, they will do the same with you.
See how it works? You read. They read. You both earn money. That easy.
Start easy. Pick 5 to 10 writers you like to read. Then add a few more. This way you can take time to cultivate a read-to-read relationship with others.
You won’t miss stories
I’ve been missing a lot of stories written by people I follow because it doesn’t show those circles of other writers on the home page screen on my I-phone.
So I didn’t know when many writers I follow were publishing stories — now, though, I can check my inbox, click, open, read and comment on their stories.
You read. They read. You both earn money.
Even if I am on my laptop, I still prefer this way because I can see the titles of writers’ stories throw their names to see if I want to read them right away.
You can see the titles in those circles. So it lets you sift the stories easier.
Some I click right away, others I wait a while, but my goal is to read all the stories in my inbox. I just started doing this, but I expect it to increase reads.
Maybe, you’re smarter than me, and you’ve already figured out this simple strategy to increase the views, reads, and potential earnings of your stories.
Maybe not.
The four main benefits are:
- it allows you to interact with other writer’s stories faster
- it increases your relationship with other writers
- it helps you to find a tribe within your niche
- it will increase the reads and earnings of your stories.
Readers matter, not 1K, 2K followers
Do you like to write in a certain niche? Just click on that envelope of writers of that niche and over time if you read their stories you will build a relationship with these writers by reading, clapping and commenting on their stories.
You’ll have made a Medium friend. What’s better than that Pam Winter?
You won’t be trudging along the writer’s path alone. You will be interacting regularly with other writers, keeping your spirits up to keep on writing.
Ain’t that right, Vincent Van Patten?
You feeling this, J.R. Spiers?
You will get new ideas for stories from interacting with other writers.
Thanks Sam Ochstein for always giving me ideas from your comments.
What are you waiting for?
Go ahead and start clicking on those envelopes to get notifications sent to your inbox when those you follow write a story.
Quick shout to KiKi Walter and her Netflix-style Episodes of her love life. Her publication The Memoirist is a fast growing place for nonfiction writers.
I gotta go check my inbox. Look forward to seeing your story in my inbox.
Thanks for reading my story.
