The Oldest Person In The World Died At 119
It was a woman in Japan
Japan’s population has aged
The person who had been the oldest living person died at the age of 119. She was a Japanese woman.
Living to a ripe old age is more common in today’s world than it was for previous generations. There is not a lot, but there are quite a few people throughout the world who are now 100 years old or beyond that. It is not so unusual in this day and age.
Mari Yamaguchi provided a story for The Associated Press entitled: “World’s oldest person, a Japanese woman, dies at 119.”
She wrote: A Japanese woman recognized as the world’s oldest person, Kane Tanaka, has died at age 119, just months short of her goal of reaching 120.
Born on Jan. 2, 1903, Tanaka loved playing the board game Othello and had a penchant for chocolate and fizzy drinks. She was certified by Guinness World Records as the oldest living person in 2019 when she was 116. In media occasions, she said she was still enjoying life and hoped to live until 120.
Tanaka died of old age on April 19 at a hospital in Fukuoka, her hometown in southern Japan where she spent all her life, city officials said Tuesday. Tanaka, who had lived at a nursing home, was in and out of hospital only recently, they said.
The Governor of Fukuoka, Seitaro Hattori, said he was shocked and saddened by her death. He stated that he was looking forward to celebrating with her in person this year by marking the Respect for the Aged Day. He said, “She gave the people hope for healthy long life.”
The article further stated:
With her death, the world’s oldest human is now Lucile Randon, a French nun known as Sister Andre, aged 118, according to the The Gerontology Research Group. In Japan, the new record-holder is a 115-year-old woman Fusa Tatsumi, of Osaka, the Japanese health ministry said.
Old age is something that many people hope to attain. Being 100 years old and older is not that common, but there are thousands who have gotten to that age. It is a good thing if people can be of sound mind and relative good physical health.
