A Tanka Poem about the silent watch of hundreds of years…
What has mankind done to this once beautiful world I have seen it change from paradise to sheer hell with my old sad wrinkly eyes
I haven’t been writing as much poetry as I’d like, and yet today I thought I’ll do a Tanka — the powerful little style I got introduced to on here.
I sometimes imagine what it would be like to be a banyan tree — with a lifespan of over 300 years, and sometimes as high as a thousand years. How does it feel to see generations walk past, and the world change so much, and yet not be able to do anything about it — and just silently watch? We can only wonder…
