The old abandoned car
It lay in that yard for years
It was covered with dirt and grime, It had not been cleaned for a very long time. The old car was abandoned in that yard, Broken and rusted no one needed it, It had done its time and was like a lost bit.
Fifty years ago, it was a brand-new car, It belonged to a young man who loved it. He saved his cash from his first job, He rode it and he loved every inch of it.
The young man married and had a family. The time came when he needed a new car. There was no space for his three children, His gorgeous wife who was attractive and slim. A new car was bought that was shiny and fast, Heads turned whenever he drove past.
Over the years the man looked at his old car, He would definitely fix it one fine day. The old man retired from his postal job. He looked at his old car from his sofa every day, He watched it looking at him with nothing to say.
The day came when the angels came for him, He looked at his old car with a smile, Perhaps it would be free one day too. The man’s grandson came to see the car, He knew that it was a special kind of car.
The young man painted, soldered and polished, Every inch of that old and battered vehicle. The day came when the car was sparkling and new, It was admired by all and loved by a few. That car has a new lease of life we are told, It drives on the road free, fast and bold.
