DeeDee Anderson…… May 24, 2015— January 13, 2020

The family of DeeDee Anderson sadly announced the death of their dear little daughter and granddaughter this morning. Miss Anderson died of complications following emergency surgery for a burst appendix. She was four years old.

Ms. Joanna Anderson survived the death of her husband, DeeDee’s father, last year when he was deployed to Iraq with the Army. Corporal David Anderson, of South Arlington, had made a career in the Army and the family had lived on bases in Germany and Italy. After DeeDee’s birth in 2015, Ms. Anderson moved back to the States to live with her widowed mother, Eilene Greaves. In 2017, Ms. Anderson gave birth to a son, David Jr., and Mr. Anderson had been furloughed to spend time with his new baby. The family had planned to relocate to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri following Mr. Anderson’s current tour of duty.

Corporal Anderson’s death came nearly a year ago and derailed any plans at that time to move. Ms. Anderson found work with a local food co-op and had been considering moving to a place of her own with her two children. Mrs. Greaves’ health has deteriorated, however, and Ms. Anderson and David Jr. will continue to live with her for the time being.

In the wake of this second devastating loss, community organizations are asking for donations to assist the Anderson family to defray the costs of DeeDee’s burial.
