The Obituaries of January*
Mr. Jamison R. Stoltz, Jr…… September 2, 1982— January 15, 2020

Mr. Jamison R. Stoltz, Jr., of Danston Falls, was pronounced dead at the scene this morning after being struck by a commuter bus. Mr. Stoltz had been riding his bicycle to work at the time.
This accident occurred at the high-risk intersection of State Route 34 and Falls Boulevard where another fatality happened only a week ago.
Mr. Stoltz had moved to Danston Falls five years ago with this partner, Greta Smith, and their two children. Ms. Smith grew up in Toronto, Canada and met Mr. Stoltz when they both attended college in Syracuse, New York. Mr. Stoltz’s family came from the Rochester, New York area and the couple settled there and started their own family.
Ms. Smith is a computer programmer who was recruited by Danston Fall’s growing tech sector and Mr. Stoltz was a writer who also worked the morning shift at Maguire’s Books and Records. Mr. Stoltz has published several popular books about the benefits of meditation and had established a well-attended meditation group that meets Tuesday evenings at the American Legion Hall. Currently, there are no plans to disband the group.
As has been documented extensively over the past ten years, that intersection at Rt34 and Falls Blvd has been the site of numerous accidents many of which were fatal. Town council has argued repeatedly to add caution lights and move the pedestrian crossing further from the actual intersection but never could determine how to fund the necessary work. An emergency meeting of the council has been called for tomorrow night, January 16, and local people are invited to attend.
Information regarding funeral arrangements for Mr. Stoltz is pending.
