The Obituaries of January*
Marcus Stanley, MD, PhD …… September 23, 1943 — January 6, 2020

Dr. Marcus Stanley has been so much a part of the community in which he practiced medicine for the past forty years that his neighbors and former patients are in shock at his passing.
Dr. Stanley earned his MD at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore in 1969 having returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam where he served as a medic. His experiences in that war were the basis for his lifelong passion for emergency response. Having been in charge of the Emergency Room at Felton General Hospital for nine years, Dr. Stanley went back to medical school and earned his Ph.D. in psychology. He built a practice focused on helping those recovering from trauma.
He found an enormous need for his services in and around his home in Felton, Delaware and helped many patients in his years of practice. Dr. Stanley retired from active practice three years ago and used that time to write three very well-received books on treating those suffering from severe psychological and physical trauma.
Dr. Stanley married later in life to Ms. Jennifer Anderson of Felton ten years ago. The couple enjoyed summers in their second home on the Eastern shore where they also spent weekends well into the autumn. They have no children.
Visiting hours are scheduled for Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12 at Murray Street Memorial Chapel with a private funeral service being held next Monday, January 13. Donations to Felton Hospital are requested.
