The Next Week and a Half

Will surely be HUGE

During the next week and a half my hair will turn 32 years of age. It was the first week of October, 1986 the last time I had a haircut. And it was a serious cut. I buzzed my head. Then, as part of a Lakota love pledge, I made a promise to the Creator that I would never cut my hair ever again as long as I live.

And so far I have kept that promise. After not cutting my hair for 32 years one might think that it would reach down to the backs of my ankles by now but such is not the case. It took around two years for my hair to reach the middle of my back then it stopped growing and has remained at that length for the last 30 years. I feel that sometime during the next week and a half I should celebrate my hair somehow. I am not yet sure how, though.

According to the official weather prognosticators we are supposed to experience our first deep freeze here where I live sometime over the next week and a half. There is even a slight chance of snow. I know the term freeze has to do with water but that first freeze can act like fire in that it ignites a blaze of glorious fall foliage. How exciting is that?

Over the next week and a half we will be finishing the lunar month that started with that very intense new moon in early September and we will have another new moon on the 8th of October. What a deep, penetrating lunar phase this has been! It is time to start thinking of that next new moon.

Over the next week and a half the shackles that have bound me will be unlocked and I will be set free. It may be a little scary but I am sure to experience an explosion of joy the likes of which I have not experienced in years.

If I win the lottery in the next week and a half I will officially retire. I am thinking of doing it anyway whether or not I win.

Some time over the next week and a half I plan on starting a serious mental, physical and spiritual cleanse. I try to do that at least twice a year — usually around the equinoxes. I was originally going to do one in September but September was just too intense.

The next week and a half will contain calamity, violence, intrigue, scandal, outrage, death, destruction, good news and bad news, and unexpected twists and turns just like every week and a half period does on this planet. It may very well seem like an ordinary week and a half.

But the next week and a half will certainly not be ordinary for me.
