The New Pandemic, Voter Suppression of People of Color and Young Voters
How Georgia’s officials are doing everything within their power to disenfranchise voters
Georgia is doing everything possible to ensure a win during elections by any means necessary. First they have passed hundreds of laws suppressing the people of color and young voters opportunities.
These tactics are not new and have been around for years but kept on the down low until Trump entered office. It has gotten worse, even when Trump ran for president, different GOP states tried to suppress the vote of millions of men who had been incarcerated at some point in their lives with rules unheard of or newly instituted rules that the former inmates were not only unaware but couldn’t track down the reasons but yet they were denied the right to vote. Many philanthropists heard about what was happening with former inmates who had been denied due to some law placed on legal books that they had to pay monies unbeknownst to them, so these philanthropists stepped up and payed these newly instituted bogus fees.
Fast forward, the GOP is a party of Trump who can no longer function without his stamp of approval and at a lost for instituting any policy of any kind. How can highly educated men be led by their pinky by someone who is clueless about politics and business who has so man business’s lawsuits that no one can accurately count, two times impeached, spearheaded an insurrection that could have killed each of them and yet they are loyal without any loyalty being returned. There is no term to deserve this type of loyalty.
All the GOP run states are instituted voting suppression laws to guarantee a win in the next election and if these law don’t work, in Texas there is a law that they can overturn the results of course in their favor.
Georgia officials are in the process of removing 102,000 voters from rolls unless these said voters act to preserve their registration. What they are doing is making a list of these said voters who will be removed from the rolls unless they act to preserve their registration within a timeframe.
The GOP’s purge process will include mailing out cancellation notices and those who respond within 40 days will have their registration restored to active. Also, once removed, the voter has to re-register.
Question: Is this a bipartisan act for all voters, Democrats and Republicans?
On a monthly basis, registered voters are been attacked in one manner or another. The secretary of state has been removing voters who were convicted of felonies or who died. It’s look like the secretary of state has forgone other duties with 100% energies toward securing a rigged GOP election.
Removing voters who has passed is one thing but this removal should be bipartisan. Is it okay for dead GOP to remain on roles while Democratic deceased are removed. This action is blatant racism with a purpose to cheat to win any election. This is why we have the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Lives Matter Movement because there is a constant onslaught of people of color voting privileges, equal rights, and civil rights.
According to Georgia’s GOP officials, there are about 7.8 million voters and the removals will include about 67,000 voters who submitted a change of address form to the U.S. Postal Service, and about 34,000 voters who had election mail returned.
Again, to what voters is this happen, Democratic or Republican? Everyone sees the obvious answer here.
Georgia GOP officials along with Trump are sore looser and will do anything to steal a vote. We heard Trump on the phone pressuring the Attorney General to give him votes to overthrow Biden in the 2020 election. The world heard it, the actual phone call but due to his presidential status, Trump has been shielded from all the wrongdoings that he has done. These rules need to change where no one is above the law, not even a seating president no matter who it is, Democrats or Republican.
Stacey Abrams’ race for Georgia against Brian Kemp which was a close win for this GOP state has caused Georgia to do everything within their power to restrict voting privileges of all people of color and younger voters. The GOP can not win an election on merits or policy because they have neither so cheating has become the new obvious norm. Under Kemp administration, purging Georgia voters has become another hot-button issue among the many laws restricting voting privileges. Under Kemp, more than 1.4 million voter registrations were cancelled between 2012 and 2018.
Last month, more than 18,000 voters have been removed from the voting roll who had died according to Georgia’s death registry. Also, there is no record showing any votes were cast among the 18,000 in the November 2020 general election or the January runoff. So why beat the dust in the dark when there is no dust?
In 2019, Georgia’s officials sought to move 300,000 voters, but was stopped dead in their tracks by the Fair Fight Action, a voting rights group founded by Abrams as they sued to stop a portion of the removals. Sounds like some illegal removals was happening. 22,000 voters were being kept on the roll because Georgia officials efforts timewise was biased. Again, Georgia purged 287,000 voters, while nearly 5,000 either voted or got in touch to keep their registration from being cancelled.
Georgia law mandates inactivity warrants an inactive status or had no contact with the state. In 2019, the General Assembly voted to extend the no-contact period to five years. Inactive registrations are later removed if voters miss the next two general elections.
In conclusion, it is okay to remove the deceased from rolls but must be inclusive of all, there should be a law against it, especially when only a particular group or groups are targeted, people of color and young voters.
