The Necessity of Motivation & Discipline To Achieve our Dreams
The perfect combination for your goals

Motivation is a vital part of achieving any of our dreams. Without it, we will never be able to complete the work that needs to be done. This article will explore what motivation does for us and how you can motivate yourself and others in order to accomplish your goals.
Another important thing about motivation is understanding why you want something so badly; whether it’s because it’s good for society or if it’s just personal gain-motivation may not come as easily once there are multiple motives behind an idea. However, with enough time and research into reasons motivating action, this problem should hopefully lessen over time!
“You can look for external sources of motivation and that can catalyze a change, but it won’t sustain one. It has to be from an internal desire.” - Jillian Michaels
Why Is Motivation Important?
Motivation is important in achieving any goal or dream that we have set for ourselves. There are many different aspects of being motivated and I want to share a few with you today.
How does motivation affect me?
I know this may seem like a “duh” moment but it is so important to understand that one’s daily life can be heavily influenced by their own form of motivation.
Motivation helps us stay on task and not procrastinate, motivates our creativity, boosts self-confidence (especially when we accomplish difficult tasks), improves concentration levels which allows us to make smarter decisions with less effort or mental strain, gives us energy, and pushes our limits even higher in order to see the best version of ourselves possible!
What motivational tactics can implement in my daily schedule?
The first aspect of motivation that I would like to cover relates to setting goals for yourself at the beginning of each day so that throughout your day you know what tasks need accomplishing and when they should be completed by. This will eliminate procrastination on completing tasks early because there was no deadline given from the start and also allows more time if needed before deadlines draw nears.
Another motivational tactic involves prioritizing which tasks to complete first, which is an important part of being efficient and accomplishing tasks in the most effective way possible.
The next aspect I would like to cover relates to finding ways that motivate you personally as well as other people. For example, some motivational tactics involve rewarding yourself when reaching a certain goal or completing a task by doing something nice for oneself such as buying new clothes or going out with friends — whatever your reward may be.
Other motivational tactics are getting up early so one can start their day off on the right foot by having breakfast before heading into work while others might find motivation from making lists about what needs to be accomplished throughout the week so they know exactly where they need to spend more time focusing energy and attention without forgetting anything.
In addition, another point is prioritizing. When you prioritize your goals, it will become easier to make decisions that align with what’s important. For example, if you have an important meeting coming up and a friend is asking for help later in the day-it will be easier to say no because it’s not as necessary.
The final aspect of motivation I would like to cover is the importance it has on our mental health and wellness. Motivation helps build self-confidence while also helping us set goals for ourselves that can be achieved in a timely manner which will make us feel accomplished, all while increasing productivity levels.
The different aspects of motivation are crucial to being able to achieve any goal we might have or dream about accomplishing — we just need to find what works best for ourselves!

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” - Jim Rohn
The Other Side Of The Coin: Discipline
I’m not going to lie, discipline is a much more difficult concept for me than motivation. Discipline feels like hard work and it’s the thing that prevents us from being lazy every now and then. It takes energy (mental) focus, time, effort, and most importantly commitment or dedication to your goals in order to see any success when it comes down to having actual self-discipline.
Motivation can be high one day, but will you still have enough willpower after a long period of time? You may need some form of reinforcement too!
Don’t forget about making sure what motivates you actually align with your values or at least triggers an interest so that there are no distractions while trying to accomplish the task(s).
Why do I need both motivation and discipline?
There are times where we all have the day(s) where nothing seems right at all. We feel sluggish without any amount of motivation and can’t find anything to do at all because there’s nothing that interests us. That is when discipline steps in and does the work for you!
What are some ways I could get motivated or stay disciplined?
- Meditate on your goals
- Visualize yourself achieving those goals
- Believe in yourself! It takes a lot of it, but self-confidence is motivating as well as something we need if we want to accomplish any level of success. Believe in what you’re doing (or have already accomplished!) and don’t let anyone push you around! You deserve better than anything they may say!! The best part about believing in oneself is that our mindset becomes just so much more positive which then affects others around them.
- Designate a time for work, then stick to it. This way you’re not wasting your precious energy on trying to find something useful while at home or in silence when all you want is the distraction of TV!
- Find what makes each day worth getting up and going out into the world for, whether that be an animal, friend(s), family member(s), hobby/pastime…you get my drift right? The best part about this is that we can use these things as our motivation instead of feeling like there isn’t any reason why we should do anything productive because everything else seems so much more attractive than being disciplined with whatever task needs to be done (whether that’s cleaning dishes or working on one deadline).
Motivation is important and necessary, but it cannot be the sole thing needed for success. We need both elements to create a balance in order to get where we want in life!
The Bottom Line Is…
Motivation is an absolutely crucial part of one’s daily routine; without motivation, there would be no reason as to why anyone should do anything productive whatsoever.
Discipline on the other hand can only work when paired with motivational items such as meditation or visualizing oneself achieving their goals so that self-confidence does not hinder them from trying again.
It takes time and patience before any significant progress could be seen because discipline requires dedication while motivation may seem easy at first glance. What are some ways you could stay motivated? Believe in yourself and work towards what you want- don’t let society change your dreams!
What do you think? What does your day look like when you’re motivated vs not? To write this blog post, I used my own story as an example by talking about how I use motivational tactics such as setting goals each day, prioritizing tasks according to their urgency and importance, and looking at other people’s examples for motivation.
I really hope I sparked some thoughts or ideas in your mind about the necessity to be motivated when it comes to accomplishing our dreams?
