The Mushroom Sauce
Six Word Photo Story Challenge: Freestyle
It is not heavy at all.
“Mmm, what is that?” she asked.
I poured the mushroom cream sauce. It is homemade. I made it. It is my version. I use milk instead of cream.
The green leaves are called Shiso. It adds freshness to it (the freshness is like mint but the taste is not like minty mint. I like mint flavor, but I don’t eat a bunch of mint in my meal. Whereas I can eat many Shiso. It’s more like basil to me.)
I usually use some butter, salt, lots of freshly grounded black pepper, and some herbs, either dried or fresh leaves (mixed Italian herbs, basil, or rosemary).
Points are to have lots of mushrooms, one or more kinds, stir fry them well, and season them well.
After cooking the sauce, place it on plates. Then lightly cook a few washed Shiso leaves for about 15 to 20 seconds as the pan is still hot, then place them on the top of the sauce.
This sauce not only goes well with meat but also with other things even just with some cooked rice.
My mom and I ate it with rice. Yum 😊
