The Most Vital Lesson in Life: Move On From Your Victories
Don’t dwell on your past victories, move on and keep seizing success in life no matter what.
Most people have huge goals that they set themselves to meet by the end of the week, month, or year. However, many are trapped on the other side after reaching their goal because they haven’t yet learned the life lesson of moving on from achieving their goals.
I’ve dealt with this myself and realized it only a week ago. I felt really happy for the entire day, only to feel lost the next day and wonder why I’m no longer as happy as I was the day before.
I realized that I could and should be happy about my victories, like getting a good grade on a test, growing my social media account to a follower goal, and writing four stories in two hours of staying focused.
I wish I had learned this vital life lesson sooner, as I would have saved so much time thinking of how great my temporary success is instead of working to achieve more on the same day to reach a better tomorrow.
Where we see this lesson being taught
We’ve seen countless Olympic athletes become depressed after achieving the greatest victory in their lives, and every single one of them has explained their realization about goals.
What they learn after accomplishing their greatest feat is that it gives them so much happiness that, as soon as their moment fades away, they’re left feeling depressed because it’s over.
It’s not only Olympic athletes who have learned this vital life lesson; almost every successful entrepreneur has learned to continue chasing after bigger goals after becoming millionaires or billionaires, or making it with their startup business.
This lesson especially applies to entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses, begin earning more money than they ever would’ve dreamed of before, and achieve their goals.
Why this lesson is so vital in life
Most people live their lives as if they were a few bursts of success and progress. However, life isn’t like this naturally. In modern times, we look forward to finishing high school, college, working a career, getting married, having children (if you end up doing these things, not all people follow this same pathway, and that choice is the beauty of life), and then finally retiring from working.
Some people get too focused on their big achievements and end up losing valuable time that they could have spent working on new projects. Most people end up thinking life is too dull for them to make changes in it and work on businesses and success in their career life to achieve earlier and more rapid success.
Billionaire entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos weren’t satisfied after becoming millionaires or billionaires, and it’s because they knew that they needed something bigger to aspire to achieve after gaining so much wealth.
Now, they might just want to achieve trillions of dollars rather than more important things like leaving a good impact on the world through donations and working on more products and services that solve problems worldwide, or maybe they want to accomplish something that doesn’t only benefit them.
What matters is that no matter who you are, you need to be chasing after another goal that you want to accomplish. If you don’t continue seeking success in life, you’ll end up feeling that what you do is pointless and that you’re getting nowhere.
While success and progress aren’t the only things that matter in life, they sure do give humans purpose to achieve greater things than others have done in the past. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have civilization, cars, airplanes, rockets, or the internet that you’re using to read this story right now.
Summary
The point of this story is to teach you that you should always strive for improvement, whether that’s in yourself, your business, or anything else that you want to become better at in life.
I’ve realized this life lesson myself and want the rest of the world to know so they can continue improving themselves where I faltered and learn from my mistakes.
Even people who have lived the most exciting and interesting lives feel low if they don’t find out early on that they shouldn’t only chase one big goal in life and instead should be consistently improving themselves little by little to achieve even bigger and better goals in their lives.
Without success and progress, humans wouldn’t have ever come as far as we have, with all the lives that have been lived, all the knowledge that has been stored and shared with new generations, and all the great achievements that we have achieved. We continue to pursue greater achievements, no matter how far we are from our goals or how difficult it is to improve what we dream of creating.
