Let me tell you whether you should grow a beard or not

Beard or no beard?

Every man is faced with this decision again and again. Well, at least those who grow a decent beard.

I suppose that a not unimportant criterion in this decision for most men is what goes down best with the opposite sex.

This can be very different from woman to woman in my own experience. While my ex-girlfriend hated it when I didn’t shave every day, especially because it scratched her, my current girlfriend prefers a beard.

Nevertheless, I set out to find a general trend. With success. In this article, I will tell you what it is.

A Study Provides Us With The Answer

10 men of European descent served as models for this study. All of them had brown hair and facial hair. They were photographed in four different conditions:

clean shaven
with light stubble (after 5 days of beard growth)
with heavy stubble (after 10 days of beard growth)
fully bearded (after 6 weeks of beard growth)

The men in the different conditions were evaluated by 177 heterosexual men and 351 women. Participants rated the men on attractiveness, healthiness, masculinity, and parenting abilities.

The Results
