The Moron Who Blatantly Plagiarized My Article Here is Doing the Same to My Viral NewsBreak Articles

I don’t feel like writing anymore

I am overwhelmed, frustrated, and depressed.

A moron, who calls herself a ‘writer’ and claimed to help you live the best version of your life on her Medium profile blatantly copied an article of mine word for word and posted it as her own. She didn’t bother even switching out the title or images.

Thankfully for me, Mona S Gable, an editor for the New Writer’s Welcome pub flagged it. The team at New Writers Welcome, including chief editor, Robert Ralph, was prompt in reporting the situation as well as keeping me updated. Apparently, this person is a repeat offender who has a penchant for stealing other people’s articles.

Medium responded quickly and within hours the person’s account was under investigation.

I followed it up by posting an article yesterday about the audacity of this writer doing what she does and would like to thank the Medium community for their amazing support.

Several writers including The Sturg shared their distress about copycats stealing their articles in the comments.

Then yesterday I see the person, with the same name doing the same for my NewsBreak posts — particularly the ones that went seriously viral.

The nerve!

I have reported and am awaiting NB’s response.

What I don’t understand is why there are no automatic checks in place — I mean c’mon the titles and body of the post are the same — word for word. The depressing thing is I know people like this will never really go away. They will get their plagiarizing asses banned from one platform and will just pop right back to take advantage of other people’s hard work.

The fear is very real. It makes one thing what’s the point of putting in all the effort to create great content only to have a moron plagiarize the crap out of it and subsequently fatten their wallets.

It’s not that I am blind to such things happening. But when it happens to you, it hits home hard. All the hours spent planning, writing, and researching an article — were stolen by someone who sees it as a shortcut to success.

I will call this person by the name that comes to mind and that is a thief.

Please let me know if you have experienced this and any advice you may have is welcome. Meanwhile, stay alert for such as*holism in case it comes your way.
