Money is a lens we don’t always incorporate on the journey to self-awareness, but it is a potent one that will liberate so much abundance in the rest of your life. Self-awareness can become a sanctuary, a place you experience grounding, and a launchpad to actualize your dreams.

from Money Magic by The Money Witch

Money has always been kind of a thing for me. And by “thing” I mean an issue. If I’m really honest, the entirety of material reality has been kind of a “thing” for me. But I’m working on it.

That’s why I was thrilled to have the Money Witch, Jessie Susannah Karnatz (JSK) as my guest for this week’s episode of my podcast, Empower Your Magical Self.

Check out her awesome bio…how could you NOT be intrigued?

Money Magic

JSK’s book, Money Magic, is the only financial-themed book I’ve ever loved. It’s the only one that didn’t make me feel really bad about myself, and I’m grateful to the Money Witch for that bit of magic, if nothing else.

What is Magic?

During our conversation, I asked JSK what her definition of magic is. Here’s her answer, edited only for clarity.

“Magic is taking responsibility for yourself as an energetic entity. And then using that intentionally. Sort of understanding the way that if I’m an energetic entity, I have to acknowledge both that I am powerful, and are there any parts of me that are invested in not being powerful?

And then in some ways, we’re back to that responsibility piece because if you’re powerful, then you have responsibility to yourself. And you also have responsibility to the collective.

Taking responsibility for my own power, and using it in intentional ways. That’s what I think magic is.

And then I also think, when we’re acknowledging ourselves like that, then we acknowledge that all entities have an energetic power. And we can ally with them or ask them to ally with us in our intentions.

So that to me is — I’m setting my intention. I’m putting my energy behind my intention, maybe then I’m asking a certain crystal, or a certain plant, or a certain Bird or a god or goddess, or, an ancestor or whatever to ally with me in aligning my energy. Or maybe I’m working with my cousin and we’re all aligning that energy together and using the power of the group. and yeah, that’s my definition of magic.”
