When You Give it Your All…Then…Crickets…
I had a not so great day today on the platform. I wrote a story yesterday that I was really proud of. I put my whole heart into this story and really tried to give it my best effort.
I even stepped my game up from my usual stories. I’ve been reading a lot of stories lately about writing tips on Medium. Many of the articles talked about writing articles that “make you think” and that provide evidence and statistics to back up what you’re saying. These articles stressed the importance of being seen as an expert in your field…
So I took the challenge, did a good deal of research, and wrote what I deemed to be a darn good article…and then…wait for it…crickets.
It was quite disappointing to say the least.
Sadly, for some reason, this story just didn’t seem to resonate with readers. And while it’s still early, it has the lowest read time and fans of any of my other stories. And while I know this is not necessarily the goal, nor should it be the motivation…
Let’s be real…
It sucks when the work that you pour your heart and soul into doesn’t get the love you think it deserves.
Not going to lie…I was down for a good part of the day about that… It’s just sooo ironic that a story I put an extra amount of effort into seemed to resonate the least…
But…can’t get discouraged. Just gotta dust myself off, regroup, and pick myself back up…
But on a lighter note, I received the sweetest shout out today from Brett Millan. He stated that he liked my work and he encouraged others to check it out. This sweet gesture came at the perfect time where I needed to be encouraged the most. Divine timing I guess…(smile). Thanks again, Brett.
So, as I prepare to go off to bed, I plan to lay my burdens down, drift off to sleep…and let it all go.
Tomorrow will be a beautiful new day.
