The Medieval City — Carcassonne

One of my personal favorites in France — Episode 18

Let me revert to one of my favorite topics — Travel. This time, I want to start the series of writing about the places that I have been to in France.

To start off with, I want to talk about Carcassonne.

Being a resident of Toulouse, it is one of the closest cities in France. Hardly an hour and a half away. It is also one most visited cities in the South of France.

Despite being a small city, there are many things to do. So, whether you want to plan for a day or a week, there are ample opportunities to engage in a lot of activities. By far, the major attraction of Carcassonne remains the Chateau i.e. the castle that you can see from miles away. But once you reach there, you don't wish to leave the site — that is a sure thing!

There are shops, restaurants, and hotels within the castle. All so majestic and grandeur. It feels like being in the olden times. It is simply beyond the expression of words. You can also have an only paid visit to see the inner portions of the castle.

Many people from France and UK visit this historic city. Personally, I have been to Carcassonne at least 4 to 5 times. Next time I go there, I plan to stay in one of the castle hotels. I am sure the experience will be far better than spending a night at a 7-star hotel in Dubai.

I can't wait for the lockdown to end so that I can pack my bags, hop on my car for a week-long vacation in Carcassonne with my family.

I hope you enjoyed today’s episode. See you tomorrow!
