Tikku’s Stories

The Marsh Mallow Clouds

a children’s story.

Image created by Author on NightCafe

Tikku was eating his breakfast, when there was a knock on the door. His mother went to open the door and brought in a little girl with her.

“This is Saia, Tikku, our new neighbour!”

She introduced her. Saia was almost his age, height and size.

Like a good boy, Tikku shook her hand and asked, if she had had her breakfast, and she nodded her head.

All settled, Tikku took her to his playroom.

Saia was a bit timid, Tikku thought, so he tried to be friendly, passing a couple of his toys to her, he tried to make her feel comfortable, just as his mother had been teaching him, through her own actions.

But Saia shook her head, as she didn’t want to play with a truck or an aeroplane, even his Alladin and Jinny book didn’t interest her, then she saw his colouring pencil set, and she smiled.

Tikku found his drawing paper roll and gave her some sheets of paper.

Saia sat down on the floor and started to draw. She drew flowers, then clouds and birds, Oh boy, she knew how to draw well, Tikku thought.

“Tikku, if you had a magic carpet, what would you name it?” Suddenly, she asked.

But before he could understand, and say something, she passed him one of her drawings to fill in colours, and soon they had so many colourful drawings, that they had filled the floor.

So, she and Tikku started to stick the drawings on different parts of the wall.

And then Saia started to draw on the wall, yes, on the wall itself!!

Tikku’s eyes popped, and his mouth opened in a big ‘O’, as he was not allowed to write anywhere like this, but then he saw what she was drawing, his eyes opened even wider.

She was drawing a fairy, colourful, and beautiful, with white wings, and a silver golden wand!

Saia finalised the drawing by putting bright red shoes on the fairy’s feet, and red pompoms on the tip of the wand.

“Wow, this is a fairy! Like the Tinker bell”! Tikku clapped with glee.

Saia was pleased with her drawing too.

She stood in front of her fairy and opened her own arms wide, just as if she were flying too.

Tikku stood up too, in front of the drawing and opened his arms as well, and soon, three of them, the fairy, Saia and Tikku were flying.

And they flew out of the window.

It was beautiful outside, blue sky, golden sunshine, and flying birds.

Tikku was flying between the fairy, and Saia, and enjoying the cool air and the touch of the marshmallow soft clouds, which were white, and pink and fluffy.

He stuck his tongue out to taste one and found it just as sweet as a marshmallow but watery and syrupy.

Suddenly a bird came closer, as it wanted a sip of the marshmallow cloud too, Tikku let him, and then it started to fly by Tikku’s side.

It wasn’t a race, but Tikku started to flap his arms a bit faster. He was still flying right behind the fairy, but now he was quite ahead of Saia. He couldn’t see her, so he looked behind to check on her, but it was quite hard to fly and turn around, so he kept flying, and soon he lost Saia.

They had been flying for a while, but now Tikku wanted to stop. He couldn’t hear Saia flying behind him, and he was getting worried, and a bit scared too, as now they were in the clouds completely, and actually, quite lost.

He didn’t know where he was going, so he just kept looking at the red pompoms on fairy’s wand and flying away.

Soon, a gap in the clouds appeared, just like a small window, and flying behind the fairy, Tikku flew out of the clouds into the patch of sunshine!

And lo behold, he was in his own room, and there on the wall, was the fairy, with her red pompoms, and he turned around to look for Saia, she was standing near the opposite wall, where she had just finished drawing a golden yellow window and was smiling mysteriously.

Before Tikku could ask her anything, his mother called from the kitchen.

“Tikku! Do you want some snack? Ask Saia too, I’ve made rocky road with pink marshmallow, your favourite!”

“Let’s go, I need to go home too”! Saia stood up, but before running to the kitchen, she turned around and said:

“I call my magic carpet marshmellow!”

Amused, Tikku, followed her, but just before closing his playroom behind them, he checked inside, the colourful drawings from the wall had disappeared.

Christine Graves’ this week’s prompts sent my imagination on a fairy-tale ride.

One of them was to write a piece in answer to:

What will your answers be? If you had a magic carpet, what would you name it?

And this story is my response to her this prompt.

And my answer to this question, is ….!

Yes, you are right!!

Thanks Christine Graves.
