The Man Who Doesn’t Know What Year It Is.

He has no conception of Date and Time! He just lives.

Can you imagine living in the world oblivious to what year we’re in, and what day it is? Just living day by day, taking things hour after hour.

Living on the fringes of society, in isolation, in a natural habitat, you built with nature and recyclable plastic you rescued from cleaning up the ocean.

Sounds too good to be true!

However, while I was living in Jamaica last year, I met a man who was living exactly like this.

Let’s call him “X-man”.

When I met X-man last year, he had been living in the bush for years.

He had been living in the bush for so long, no one in the community seemed to be able to recall when he first started living there.

Some people in the community say he’d been there for over 40 years. While others speculate that he’d been there for over 50 years.

No one seemed to be sure of the timeline. Neither was he.

What everybody was sure of, including himself was that he had been living there for a very long time.

Although X-man lives in isolation, he is still very well integrated into his community, and everyone knows him to be the guy who lives in the bushes and cleans up the ocean every day.

He doesn't rely on money from a “Babylon system”.

X-man relies on nature for all his needs and has dedicated his life and time to cleaning up plastic from the ocean.

What an angel!

The interesting thing about X-man is he doesn't appear to suffer from any adverse mental or psychological issues. X-man is not a “Mad man”!

He is a sane man who has chosen to live a life of seclusion, completely reliant on Nature.

Every day, he bathes in the freshwater stream which flows right behind the bushes where he has built his shack.

He fishes from the ocean which is literally a stone’s throw away from his shack.

He is also surrounded by fruit trees and some amount of edible vegetation.

Sometimes, people in the community contribute to his upkeep by donating what they can to him, as he has completely dedicated his life to cleaning up the ocean every day and living a simple life.

Meeting X-man changed my life by expanding my mind.

I’d never met a sane man so at peace and content with so little, and completely reliant on nature.

It was a beautiful reminder that everyone has their path here on earth and we need to be bold enough to live out our authentic lives, true to our calling.

For X-man, knowing the date and time are not as important as living a simple authentic life true to his calling.

For everyone reading this, I encourage you to be like X-man and have the courage to live your authentic life and calling, no matter how crazy it may seem to the people around you.
