Dashrath Manjhi.
He was lived in a remote area of Bihar. He started his life as a coal mine worker in the Dhanbad coal belt area. After passing some time as coal worker he returned to his village Gehlaur in 1959.
His village was surrounded by mountains. He became an agricultural labourer. He got married to Falguni Devi. After that, he settles at his village.
All were going very well. They were both continued their life very happily with two children. But God decision was something else.
One day when Dashrath was working at a farm below the hills. His wife went to gave him his lunch there. Somehow her legs slipped at hills and she was seriously injured.
The nearest town with a proper doctor facility was 55 km (34 ml) away. Manjhi tries to reach there with his seriously injured wife but he failed. He couldn’t save his wife.
The most frustrating thing that if there were no mountain then the doctor facility was just 15 km away from him.
After this Manjhi decided that he will cut the mountain and will make a path so that no can will suffer like him in future. This will also be a way to show his love to his dead wife.
He now starts his massive work of cutting the mountain. He had only chisel and hammer. The villagers were called him a lunatic but those words couldn’t dishearten him but that also steeled his resolve.

Manjhi continuing his works. Some of the villagers also help him to buy tools and gave food to his family during this long period.
After a time of continues working of 22 years (1960–1982), he carved a path 110 m long, 7.7 m deep in places and 9.1 m wide to form a road through the ridge of rocks.
This path reduced the distance between the Atri and Wazirganj sectors of the Gaya district from 55 km to 15 km. Now the life of his villagers become easier than previous.
The official road between his village and Wazirganj and Atri and Gaya were only built where his path was after his death in 2007.
He name was nominated by Bihar Government for Padma Award in 2006. A stamp featuring Dashrath Manjhi was released by India Post in the “Personalities of Bihar” series on 26 December 2016.
Manjhi was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and admitted to AIIMS Delhi. Layer he died on there on 17th August 2007. He was given a state funeral by the Government Of Bihar. He is survived by son Bhagirath Manjhi.
